Great Obama Speech (must read!!)

I know a lot of folks are sensitive to copyright and IP rights, etc, but I had to share part of Obama's speech today in Louisiana. Instead of video or audio, I'd like to share this with you as I experienced it via CSPAN.org today while working. I use Spaces in Mac OS X (Snow Leopard, if you're keeping score at home), and have six spaces with various apps for work scattered among them. Firefox with cspan.org on the second space, me working diligently in Terminal and Entourage on the first, with an open mic on my headset for MacSpeech Dictate... Obama's words began to appear in my active window, well, some semblance of Obama's words. Into Terminal and a root CLI prompt. The software requires a bit of training to be accurate...so I really became concerned when it decided to highlight and edit huge chunks of texts at random, inserting subsequent words in their stead, and continuing on with some train of thought. Here's MacSpeech Dictate's untrained interpretation of Obama's speech:

Remembering...

Memorial Day is more than just a day off at the lake, drinkin a few 'kers lite' with yer dumbass friends while wearing an American flag bandanna. Once Decoration Day, with roots going back to the Civil War, it is a day we need to give pause and think about those who've made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Some of these folks strapped on their boots voluntarily, others were drafted, but all died in service to our country.

Facebook status

Those of you who are/were friends of mine on Facebook know that in the last year, I've been rather annoyed at the moving target that is the Facebook Privacy Policy.

Motherboard interview with Vince Clarke

Excellent interview with Vince Clarke, including some stunning footage from his studio, The Cabin, in Walpole, Maine.
