Site News

Gal-uh-ree

I need a new gallery. I want something clean, pretty, and relatively simple to use and tweak. The Lightbox display is beautiful. I just dread going through photos to create a new gallery...again.

MyNews 5 Upgrade

MyNews 5 has been out for some time (thanks Mike!), and this weekend, I finally took the time to do the upgrade. Everything went smoothly. I did a few tweaks with displaying the front page headlines to resemble what I had on my version 4 site, and I inverted the colors of the Empire theme to make the girly Empiress theme (hehe). Migrating my database was smooth as well...though, I took the time to manually upload my pics again so I could finally go through them and remove what I didn't want.

I have a small to-do list of mods such as:

  • Add the ability to create subcategories in the photo gallery
  • Add the last updated photo galleries module on the left
  • Change the bottom-of-the-article navigation to link to the previous and next posted article regardless of section
  • See if I can scroll through all photos in a gallery via the display script instead of only what's on the current page.

On my Mac:

  • IE 5.2: Site doesn't render well as a whole, lightbox is all wacked out.
  • Mozilla 1.6: Lightbox is all wacked out.
  • Firefox 1.5.0.6: Appears to work fine.
  • Safari 2.0.4: Appears to work fine.

On my work pc:

  • IE 6.0.2800.xxxx...: Appears to work fine.
  • Firefox 1.5.0.6: Appears to work fine.

CMS Switch? v2

Decided to upgrade from MyNews 4 to the brand spankin' new MyNews 5...yay Mike! At the moment, there is no photo album or calendar module ready, so I'll be moving my photo album to kyoob.net temporarily while I either a) wait for an album module to be incorporated, or b) find some motivation to plug one in myself. I could care less about a calendar right now since I don't appear to be using mine at all. That's another goal for another day.

Kyoob.net

I now have kyoob.net for the more professional side of myself. Kyoob.net contains my resume and portfolio. I'm using a very slimmed-down version of MyNews primarily for the photo section. Feel free to check it out and let me know what you think.

Welcome to Binary.wittybanter!

If you're familiar with my old site, you'll notice that I've made some major changes. Binary.wittybanter now runs a Content Management System called MyNews. Visit mynews.alienated.org for more information. I made the change for a couple of reasons: to learn another scripting language and to support the author.

Thanks and enjoy!
