Somehow along the way, I seem to have lost the gallery of pics from our 2005 vacation. Found them in a backed up directory and will be adding them to the gallery as soon as I get some free time. Ha!

The third and fourth full-size panoramas from The Hague are missing so I'll have to search the archive for them.

The Rhine from B9... With a view of the town of Kaub, Berg Gutenfels above, and the Pfalz Castle in the middle of the Rhine. You can actually book rooms at a lot of the castles along the Rhine and in other areas of Germany!!!

The Hofvijver (Court Pond) and The Binnenhof: The Center of Dutch Politics. The Dutch Parliament and the Office of the Prime Minister reside here. In the 17th century, after the liberation from the Spanish catholic kings, the Binnenhof became palaces of the new protestant leaders, the princes of Orange.

Museum de Gevangenpoort (Prison Gate Museum) facing the Binnenhof and a statue of William II, Prince of Orange. Built in the 14th century. "In the Middle Ages, the Gevangenpoort was the outer gate of the Earl's castle to the Binnenhof. From about 1420 subsequent Earls used it as a prison. The Court of Holland later used it for the same purpose. In 1828, the gate ceased to be used as a prison and since 1882 is has been a national museum exhibiting instruments of torture and punishment." This is where Cornelius de Witt was imprisoned after being arrested on false accusations of treason (against William III of Orange, later crowned King of England).

"GroenLicht/GreenLight: LIGHT PROJECTIONS IN THE HEART OF AMSTERDAM A new metro line is being built opposite Victoria Hotel Amsterdam, the North/South line. The walls of a giant caisson still protrude from the ground. In two months time it will vanish beneath the Damrak. In the meantime DRAWINGS by 16 artists are being projected every night onto a projection surface of 8 x 12 metres. Artworks which surprise, inspire or raise questions. Black and white bathed in GREEN LIGHT. The icing on the capital’s cake. Concept: Michiel Huijsman."

I finished posting all the photos up through August 21st when we left Copenhagen and headed to Amsterdam. I even added a map to the third Europe album that shows the train routes for the entire trip! Lucky you!... I'll be adding a map to one of the Germany album that shows our driving route from Frankfurt am Main to Oberwesel (where we stayed in a little wine tavern / bed & breakfast) to Bad Kreuznach (where we stayed at a crazy health resort and where Will ironically got food poisoning) to GorxHeimertal (where we stayed with some friends) and back to Frankfurt am Main to catch our train to Copenhagen. Whew! I have only about another 500 or so pictures to go through...
